Compared to other ESE terminals, the DEFYSTORM® aims at reducing the corona effect (a natural point effect provoked by an increase in the electric field's potential). Indeed, an excessive electric field slows down the generation of the upward leader. The DEFYSTORM® ESE internal circuitry contributes to the generation of loads when the downward leader coming from the stormy cloud is close enough to the electric field thus enabling the free movement of loads. By doing so, the newly formed upward leader will join the cloud's downward leader to form the lightning.
A quicker anticipation of the upward leader combined with a better control of the corona effect increases the attractive power of the DEFYSTORM® and therefore boosts its lightning protection radius. Large safety margins have been taken into account in the results of our tests in order to provide the user with the most reliable LPS.
